Silver soldering, also known as silver brazing, involves using a filler material with a lower melting point than the base metals being joined. Typically, an alloy containing silver is used as the filler material, which melts at a temperature around 600-800 degrees Celsius (1100-1500 degrees Fahrenheit). The solder creates strong bonds by wicking into the joint through capillary action. This technique is versatile and can be used on various types of metals such as stainless steel, copper, brass, and even precious metals like gold or silver.

On the other hand, braze welding utilizes a similar process but with higher temperatures involved. Instead of using low-temperature alloys like silver solders, braze welding employs filler materials that melt above 840 degrees Celsius (1550 degrees Fahrenheit) – typically made from bronze or brass alloys – to join metal pieces together. Unlike traditional fusion welding techniques that require melting and fusing base metals directly together, braze welding relies on capillary action to draw molten filler material into tight joints between metal surfaces.
