– Swage Blocks: Heavy-duty blocks made from cast iron that have various depressions and forms carved into them. They help shape metal by providing support and forming surfaces for specific designs.

3. Safety Precautions in Coal Forging:
Working with a coal forge can be hazardous if proper safety precautions are not taken:

– Protective Gear: Always wear heat-resistant gloves, safety glasses or goggles, long sleeves, and closed-toe shoes to protect yourself from heat and flying sparks.

4. Techniques for Shaping Metal in a Coal Forge:
Coal forging involves several techniques to shape metal according to individual preferences:

– Drawing Out: This technique involves elongating the heated piece of metal by hammering it repeatedly on one end while rotating it slowly. This creates thinning towards the opposite end of the hammered section.

– Bending: By applying pressure with hammers or utilizing bending forks (jigs), you can achieve curved shapes or angles within the heated metal.
