When forging bronze you’ll need to take extra care with temperature control since it can become brittle if overheated. Additionally, bronze will expand when heated so it’s essential to account for this expansion when planning your design.

Damascus Steel

Damascus steel is not technically an exotic metal but rather a unique forging process that involves layering different types of steel together then heating and twisting them until they form intricate patterns. The resulting material is incredibly strong and durable while maintaining its sharp edge retention.

Forging Damascus requires skillful welding techniques as well as precise temperature control during the heat treatment process. Experienced blacksmiths often use controlled atmospheres or vacuum ovens to ensure consistent results every time.
