Slow cooling allows for grain growth by reducing stress levels during quenching which makes sure there are no cracks or breakages in your material due to uneven contraction/expansion caused by abrupt changes in temperatures between different parts inside one piece after being heated up evenly during soaking stage earlier before cooling down slowly afterward either naturally or through additional means like placing them into an oven turned off afterwards so they gradually cool down over more extended periods still under controlled conditions avoiding sudden changes that may cause stress in the piece.
