Ryan Reynolds: The Modern Blacksmith

When you think of Ryan Reynolds, a blacksmith may not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, the actor and producer has recently taken up the craft as a hobby and has even incorporated it into his work.

Reynolds’ interest in blacksmithing began when he was filming “Deadpool” in 2015. He visited a local metal shop and was immediately hooked on the craft. Since then, he has continued to hone his skills by attending workshops and working with experienced blacksmiths.

In 2018, Reynolds announced that he would be launching his own brand of gin called Aviation Gin. What sets this gin apart from others is that it is distilled using a unique blend of botanicals including juniper, cardamom, lavender, Indian sarsaparilla, coriander seeds, orange peel and aniseed. But what does this have to do with blacksmithing? Well, Reynolds decided to use his newfound passion for the craft in the branding of Aviation Gin.

The gin’s bottle includes intricate metalwork designed by none other than Ryan Reynolds himself. The label features two birds perched atop each other with their wings spread wide open – a symbol of freedom and adventure. The metal cap also features detailed engravings reminiscent of medieval times when blacksmiths were highly regarded members of society.

But why did Reynolds choose to incorporate blacksmithing into his brand? In an interview with Forbes Magazine, he said “I wanted something tactile…something real.” By creating something tangible using traditional methods such as hammering hot metal over an anvil – Reynolds feels connected to a time before technology took over our lives.

Reynolds’ love for blacksmithing doesn’t just stop at making gin bottles though; he continues to create custom pieces for friends and family members as well as experimenting with different techniques.

While most people know him for his acting skills, Ryan Reynolds is proving to be a modern-day blacksmith – one who values tradition and the beauty of creating something by hand.
