Arc welding employs electric currents to generate enough heat required for melting metals before fusing them together with filler materials . This method requires less time compared to other methods like forge-welding or oxyfuel-welding but needs electricity; hence making it challenging when working outdoors where power outlets may not be readily available.

4. TIG Welding

7. Plasma Cutting

Plasma cutting is a technique used by blacksmiths to cut through metal using high-pressure plasma jets generated by an electrical arc . This method produces precise cuts without causing any distortion or bending in the metal being cut compared to traditional methods like saw-cutting .

However, plasma cutting equipment can be expensive compared to other tools which may make it difficult for some blacksmiths looking towards starting out on their own.

8. Gas Cutting

Gas cutting works by heating up metal until it reaches its melting point after which pure oxygen gas is blown onto the hot surface resulting in oxidation reactions that help separate pieces apart cleanly without distorting them too much during the process .

This method calls for proper ventilation control as well as wearing protective gear including goggles , gloves , aprons etc., due to high temperatures involved.
