Coal

Coal is one of the oldest and most reliable fuels used in blacksmithing. It burns hot and produces very little ash, making it an ideal choice for forging metal. Coal also provides excellent control over temperature as you can add more coal to increase heat output or remove it to reduce heat.

Also, because wood burns quickly and doesn’t produce much residual heat after burning out completely, you’ll need to keep adding new logs frequently while working with your forge – which isn’t ideal during extended forging sessions.

Electricity

Electricity provides an alternative power source that can be used instead of traditional solid fossil fuels such as coals or charcoals. Electricity offers a clean-burning energy source without any emissions produced by combustion processes seen with other solid fuels.

The primary advantage of using electricity over traditional fuel sources is its reliability – you don’t have to worry about running out of fuel mid-workday if you have access to reliable power supply lines nearby.

However, one disadvantage with electricity is its cost compared to traditional solid fuel sources like coal or charcoal; electric heating elements are incredibly high-priced both upfront buying costs (for electric furnaces) and ongoing maintenance expenses (electric bills).
